Uniekaas Extra Oud (Extra Mature) wins Superior Taste Award for third consecutive year

Kaatsheuvel, 24 July 2012 - Uniekaas Extra Oud has been awarded the prize for the third time, with an outstanding score of three stars, and has therefore won the Superior Taste Award again. The "iTQi Superior Taste Award" is a stamp of taste quality. The award is judged by the iTQi jury, consisting of 13 different nationalities, made up of Michelin-starred chefs and sommeliers from the most prestigious culinary institutions in Europe, including the Maîtres Cuisiniers of Belgium and France, the Academie Culinaire de France, the Academy of Culinary Arts, Euro-Toques, the Federazione Italiana Cuochi, the Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe, the Associaciones des Cocineros de España, the Verband der Köche Deutschlands and the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI).

Like the famous Michelin gastronomy guide, iTQi is not a competition, instead the award is presented to products that are superior in terms of taste within their category. Each product is individually blind tested by the professional jury, according to a strict sensory analysis procedure. In order to guarantee objectivity, the jury members receive each product to be tested at the same time and the only information they are given is the product category. They do not know anything about the origin of the product or see the packaging before testing. All these regulations ensure that there is no outside influence on the decision and that they can concentrate completely on the taste and sensory aspects.

The jury members are asked to evaluate the products they test as if they were in a family situation rather than judging the products as they would according to the standards for their high-end restaurants. Each tested product is the subject of a sensory analysis report, in which criteria such as smell, appearance, taste, after-taste and texture are carefully considered by each member of the jury.
